Camp Registration

The 2025 BevRec Summer Camp Registration

THIS IS NOT A PAGE FOR OUR FREE PARKS PROGRAM.  There is no pre registration for the Parks Program.

Camp registration will open to the public on March 3rd 2025 for Tiny Tykes, ACME Jr., ACME Sr. and Adventure Camp.   This year BevRec camp registration will be first come first served.  The payment links will “go live” at 10am on March 3rd. At the time of registration, there will be a NONREFUNDABLE $150 per child/per session due. This deposit will be deducted from your total camp balance.

On March 3rd, when registration opens, only Beverly residents will be able to sign up at that time. Should roster spots remain open as of May 1, those spots will become open to non-residents as well. Non residents who sign up before May 1 will have their names removed from the camp’s roster and their deposit forfeited

If/when the camps sell out, a link to the waitlist will be added to the bottom of the camps’ webpages.

In the meantime, please refer to the Camp specific pages on this website for more information about which Camp is specific to your child.

Chess Night at the Library

BevRec and the Beverly Public Library are teaming up to offer Chess Nights in the Barnett Gallery in the main Library at 32 Essex St, Beverly. Monthly through May, come and play the world’s greatest game (if you don’t count Pac Man) with your neighbors. This is not an instructional class, but rather a meet up for people who are looking to play.

No matter your skill level, join us and challenge yourself to learn, grow and master chess. Boards will be provided though we invite you to bring a board if you are able.

Free.

Ages 12-100.

Walk in only, no pre-registration is necessary.

Description: Join us for an immersive two hour experience where you'll discover the art of printmaking from scratch. Whether you bring your own sketch or choose from our curated selection of landscapes, animals, and unique designs, you'll embark on a journey into the world of lino printing.

Under expert guidance, you’ll learn the techniques of carving the speedy cut block while mastering the interplay of whites and blacks which will create striking contrasts in your artwork. Discover the process of inking your block and printing your designs onto paper, transforming your ideas into tangible prints.

Everyone leaves with 3-5 unique prints of their creation along with their carved block. We provide all necessary supplies, ensuring you have everything you need to enjoy the experience.

Whether you're a novice or seasoned artist, join us for an unforgettable evening of art, learning, and relaxation. Take home not just prints, but newfound skills and inspiration to continue your printmaking journey.

INSTRUCTOR BIO: Ashley Doke discovered her passion for printmaking during her undergraduate studies at Salem State University, where she fell in love with the medium. Throughout her undergraduate and master’s programs, she honed her skills in linocut and woodblock printing.

Ashley’s art is known for its spooky, magical, and dark aesthetic, often featuring skeletons, elements of nature, and imaginative creatures. Her work predominantly employs high-contrast black and white imagery, characterized by bold lines and intricate patterns.

While linocut remains her primary focus, Ashley also explores other mediums including watercolors, paintings, and drawings.

Season 8 of the Beverly Cornhole League begins Tuesday March 11, 2025

This will be a “doubles” league, though one person teams are allowed. Ages 18+.  The league is co-ed.  You can enter the league as either a team ($100) or if you would like to be placed on a team, you can sign up individually ($55). Games will be held on Tuesday nights.

Each team will play an 8 night season, then a playoff

Join us for a fun 8-week sports program for children of all abilities to learn the fundamentals of Baseball and Soccer! Classes are non-competitive and are perfect for beginners or for children who are looking for small class sizes taught by well-trained coaches. InclYOUsion Sports provides all equipment and children only need to bring water and wear comfortable clothes and shoes. This program is designed for children with and without disabilities to learn and play together. Skill building is focused on running, throwing, catching, hitting, and kicking, and is modified to each child’s experience level.

Inclyousion Sports provides inclusive sports enrichment programs to children, using innovative behavioral methods to teach sports, fitness, and social skills. Programs are designed by physical education, behavioral, and inclusion experts to introduce all children to a variety of sports through a series of lessons focused on skill building. This 5 week class is For players who have played very little or not at all. You will learn about the rules, how to keep score, the serve, return of serve and volley strokes. This session will also address the dink shot, which is a foundation shot in the game of pickleball. Once players learn the game, they will have an opportunity to receive coaching as points are played out.

ASHI Child and Babysitting Safety Training

The new Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from ASHI gives teenagers and young adults everything they need to know for safe and successful babysitting. From getting started with their business, to dealing with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, the magazine-format CABS guide and vlogger-style video make learning fun. Participants will be trained and certified in First Aid, CPR and AED.

$120 per student.

  • This class will be held at Camp Paradise at 44 Cole St in Beverly

Beverly HS Jazz Ensemble and the All City Jazz Band kick off the annual summer concert season at Lynch Park! Their fiery and feisty feast of jazz spans more than a century’s worth of quintessentially American music.  Under directors Adam Costa, Nick Krafka, and Alexis Carr, these two bands of enterprising youths will help you usher in the warmer months with a setlist that will feature a pastiche of swing, Latin music, funk, and, if we’re being honest, probably a Radiohead tune too!

Heartsaver First Aid, CPR and AED Certification Class

Longtime instructors, Greater Boston Safety Training will lead this one day class.

This course is designed for Teachers, Coaches, Babysitters, Construction workers, and the general public. This classroom course includes essential information and training in the first-aid skills recommended by OSHA as well as CPR and AED certification training - all in a format that can be delivered in a single day. The course is modular to meet the needs of a specific workplace or group of employees. The core module comprises general principles, medical emergencies and injury emergencies.

The class will be held at Camp Paradise at 44 Cole St. Beverly.

Students are advised to bring a notebook, pen, water and snack/lunch.

Cost: $120 per student.

Quickstart Tennis Lessons

The Bass River Tennis Club, in cooperation with the Beverly Recreation Department is offering summer tennis classes at Beverly Golf & Tennis Club.

Bass River Tennis Club operates the USTA QuickStart program which is now a world renowned and accepted teaching progression. Court size, ball pressure, racket length and weight and net height are adjusted to the age of the student. The teaching principles are interactive proven to show rapid success. The teaching staff has years of training and this innovative program will make you a lifelong tennis enthusiast.

Thursday Night Concerts take place at the Beverly Commons Gazebo on Dane St.

The concerts are free to all.

The Recliners are a 3 piece acoustic group (guitar/mandolin/bass). They play and sing songs from the best of folk, country, gospel and bluegrass music with 3 part harmonies. They have been together for eight years and are based in Lexington, MA. They are thrilled to be playing at the Beverly Summer Concert Series at The Gazebo!

Greg’s League: Unified Outdoor Pickup Basketball

The Beverly Recreation Department is happy to announce the third season of the Unified Outdoor Pickup Basketball League, now named Greg’s League.

Greg’s League is an hour of pickup basketball for people of all physical and intellectual abilities

Lifelong Beverly resident Greg Colantoni’s joy and excitement came from being with his best buddies on the basketball court! In that spirit, every Thursday (June 13th-July 18th) from 6-7pm, Balch St Playground will host an evening of competition, community and hoops! This event is totally free and no preregistration is required. For a closer look at this awesome league check out this article from The Salem News, “A league of generosity”.

Tiny Tots Day 2025 is a fun, free, family event put on by the fantastic Bev Rec Staff at beautiful Lynch Park! Bring your children ages 1-5 for all sorts of cool activities and crafts. Play in the splash pad, decorate a delicious cookie and get your face painted…hey, why not try to do all three at the same time?

Take part in one of our crazy games or just sit back and enjoy some fun songs from the concert! Artist to be determined.

Join us for a fun 8-week sports program for children of all abilities to learn the fundamentals of Track & Field and Flag Football! Classes are non-competitive and are perfect for beginners or for children who are looking for small class sizes taught by well-trained coaches. Inclyousion Sports provides all equipment and children only need to bring water and wear comfortable clothes and shoes. This program is designed for children with and without disabilities to learn and play together. Skill building is focused on running, throwing, catching and jumping, and is modified to each child’s experience level.

Inclyousion Sports provides inclusive sports enrichment programs to children, using innovative behavioral methods to teach sports, fitness, and social skills. This will be a “doubles” league, though one person teams are allowed. Ages 18+.  The league is co-ed.  You can enter the league as either a team ($100) or if you would like to be placed on a team, you can sign up individually ($55). Games will be held on Tuesday nights.

Each team will play an 8 night season, then a playoff

The new Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from ASHI gives teenagers and young adults everything they need to know for safe and successful babysitting. From getting started with their business, to dealing with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, the magazine-format CABS guide and vlogger-style video make learning fun. Participants will be trained and certified in First Aid, CPR and AED.

Longtime instructors, Greater Boston Safety Training will lead this one day class.

This course is designed for Teachers, Coaches, Babysitters, Construction workers, and the general public. This classroom course includes essential information and training in the first-aid skills recommended by OSHA as well as CPR and AED certification training - all in a format that can be delivered in a single day. The course is modular to meet the needs of a specific workplace or group of employees. The core module comprises general principles, medical emergencies and injury emergencies.

The class will be held at Camp Paradise at 44 Cole St. Beverly.

Want to make some of those cute little characters, a granny square vest that is popular, maybe a baby afghan for your friend’s new baby? In this class you will learn the basic stitches, how to read a pattern, make a tension test swatch. We’ll discuss the different types and weights of yarn. Advice starting a project of your choice, or help with a project that has you stuck and frustrated. This class is for any skill level. A beginner who has never picked up a crochet hook or maybe you need a refresher. All are welcome.

Materials needed: 1 skein of single color Worsted Weight yarn, size H crochet hook, a pair of scissors, a tape measure or small ruler, pen and paper for notes.

INSTRUCTOR BIO: Polly has been crocheting and knitting since learning from her grandmother as a child. She continued to master her craft over the years. Her intricate and colorful crocheted and knitted pieces have received many accolades and awards. The latest was First Place for a crocheted afghan and Best In Show for a knitted afghan. She is looking forward to bringing her joy of crocheting to others. Polly resides in Beverly with her dog Coto.

BevRec and the Beverly Public Library are teaming up to offer Chess Nights in the Barnett Gallery in the main Library at 32 Essex St, Beverly. Monthly through May, come and play the world’s greatest game (if you don’t count Pac Man) with your neighbors. This is not an instructional class, but rather a meet up for people who are looking to play.

No matter your skill level, join us and challenge yourself to learn, grow and master chess. Boards will be provided though we invite you to bring a board if you are able.

Tai Chi for All Levels

$130 per person. This is a 9 class Session (running each Wednesday through 4.2.25. NO CLASS 2.19)

Classes will be Wednesday afternoons from 6:15-7:15 at the Beverly Senior Center (90 Colon St.)

Students of this class will learn the fundamental principles of Tai Chi and how to apply them in the practice of Yang-style Tai Chi Chuan Short Form. Students will also become acquainted with complementary practices such as Zhan Zhuang, Qi Gong and Bagua Zhang. This class will aim to improve the students understanding of movement, the body’s natural ability to draw in and expend energy efficiently as well as develop a practice that promotes an overall sense of well being.

Instructor Bios:

Paul Findlen is a practicing martial artist, and tai chi and yoga instructor who lives in Beverly’s Ryal Side neighborhood. Paul has studied tai chi, Zenmudo, and Sunmudo with Vijay Son, and tai chi and qigong as a student at Great Bay Tai Chi, under the instruction of Austin Murray and Master Paul Mahoney. Paul has also trained in boxing with Jack Dullea, received his yoga certification under the tutelage of Deana Bacon, and currently trains Brazilian jiu jitsu at the Invictus Training Center, as a student of head coach Nate Morrison. Paul enjoys composing and performing music, and spending time with his wife, daughter, and two dogs.

Instructor Bio: Linda Sessa

Linda has been teaching for over 40 years. She is a veteran homeschool mom, an artist, a cook and a naturalist. Linda is a non-traditional teacher in that she is neurodiverse, has a childlike enthusiasm, is extremely curious, and meets students where they are. Linda’s classes and interactive, engaging and fun. Her goal is to empower children and families while teaching sustainable life skills. Linda embraces and celebrates diversity. Classes she teachers include cooking, sewing, jewelry making, fiber arts, exploring nature, messy science, STEAM, gardening, farm to table, arts and crafts, DIY organic beauty products, friendship skills, and psychic awareness.

This fun, challenging and engaging class, taught by Nick Tripoli the BHS Wrestling Coach, will show young students the basics of wrestling. Providing first hand training and mentorship from some of the high school wrestlers, middle school aged students will learn strategy and moves that will help them grow their love of the sport.

Students will need to bring athletic clothing and water.

Instructor: Nick Tripoli has been a Beverly high school wrestling coach for the last 8 seasons. He has co-run the Beverly Middle School program for the last 3 years. He is also an educator at BMS.

Mosaics For Beginners

This 3 weeks class (Dec 2nd, 9th and 16th) will take place at the Beverly Senior Center (90 Colon St).

Description: Perfect for Beginners--In this workshop makers will learn how to design, glue, and grout their mosaic pieces. Makers will create 3 mosaic projects (a mosaic frame, plant pot, and a 10'' mosaic round). We start with smaller projects and build up to the final project (10'' round mosaic art piece).

Instructor Bio: Renee is from Maine originally but has lived in the Middle East, and Arizona. She completed her BA at Gordon College and has lived in Beverly for a total of seven years now. She is the new owner of North Shore Mosaics. Her husband worked with a team of Italian mosaic artists who were restoring the mosaics of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. This inspired her to get into the art of mosaics as well. She has been doing mosaics on and off for two years. She has a passion for all types of arts and crafts but is especially excited about mosaic artwork and discovering and trying new mosaic styles. She is also the owner of Hammer & Stain Newburyport where she runs a variety of DIY workshops including tumbled glass, fall and Halloween projects, mosaic lamps, knitted blankets, resin and tumbled glass mosaics in the great Newburyport area.
