The lifeguard training provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. The lifeguard class includes comprehensive training in water rescues, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and first aid skills.. The Waterfront Lifeguard certification course incorporates both the Lifeguarding course with the Waterfront skills module. The purpose of the Waterfront skills module is to teach lifeguards the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to emergencies in nonsurf, open-water areas found at public parks, resorts, summer camps and campgrounds. This course incorporates a blended learning format with online training sessions, classroom skills and water rescue activities.
Beverly Recreation Department, in many cases, is willing to cover the cost of this course for those working as a Lifeguard at Bev Rec throughout a full summer. Please email jpaddol@beverlyma.gov for more details.
Classes will be held at Dane St Beach.
